Students will be starting the polynomials unit. In addition to learning vocabulary needed for the unit, students will be introduced to adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing polynomials. 

Through the week, students will have homework questions from the textbook. On Friday, December 14, students will have a short quiz on polynomial vocabulary. A worksheet is due Monday, December 17

In the week before Christmas, we will continue the polynominal unit. Students will have homework throughout the week. There will be a short quiz on Thursday, December 20 on polynominal addition and substraction, and (time permitting), multiplication and division. 

If a student misses any time, they are encouraged to attend extra-help at lunch on Wednesdays at 11:55. Feel free to reach out with any concerns or questions!

For the month of December, students will be working on their "Deception and Bias in Media and Advertising" unit. Students will be required to critically analyze articles, posters, documentaries and other texts. In-class participation is a must for this unit! 

Students will also be completing small in-class assignments and presentations during these two weeks. Students that are absent will need up catch up on missed work.

This week, we will be finishing unit 1 - surface area and square roots. 

MONDAY & TUESDAY - Students will be working on surface area of composite shapes including prisms and cylinders. There will be a short worksheet due wednesday. 

WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY - Students will be reviewing in class. They will have several text book questions for homework to help them prepare for the test.

FRIDAY - Unit test

Student who are looking for extra help should see me at lunch on Wednesday (11:55-12:45) or Thursday (12:30-12:45) or ask for a pull-out during Study Block

This month, English 12-3 students will be working on their MLA essays. Class time will be provided to work on these essays, therefore - attendance is ESSENTIAL! Students will need to complete an outline of their essay and will be assessed on their ability to use the 6+1 writing traits. 

The topic of the essay must be related to the justice system.

Students will be working on the writing process to complete a memoir of approximately 400 words in length.

Many students are completed their Independent Reading Project, but those who are not, need to hand it in by Thursday.

This week, students will be completing their independent reading project (due Thursday). They will also be working on comprehension questions from 12 Angry Men, a play that we read in-class. All questions and activity sheets for the play will be due on Monday (December 3).

This week we will be continuing our unit on finding the surface area of complex 3-D shapes.

Students will complete their Venn Diagram comparing The Glass Castle novel to the film. 

Students will also be working on two assignments:

This week we will be starting to read the play, "12 Angry Men". Students can volunteer to read in class for participation points. Pre-reading and during reading activities will be completed in class. 

On Friday, we will have an independent reading day. Students will also have the chance to continue working on their Independent Reading Project. This will be due November 30.

This week students will be beginning the surface area unit. 

Homework (due Friday) includes p. 30 questions 4, 5a, 6a

Students can also submit corrections for their quiz and worksheets to improve their marks. These must be completed by Friday.

On Wednesday, students will be completing the test for the exponents unit. Monday and Tuesday will be review periods. This unit will be the final one included on the fall report card. On Thursday, students will be starting a new unit focusing on square roots and surface area. Students needing extra help can see me at lunch on Monday, Wednesday or Friday. Study block help is also available.

This week we are finishing our class novel, Indian Horse. We will be reviewing character traits and types, as well as theme. The Indian Horse final test will be on Thursday. Students should also be prepared to read independently on Friday.

This week, we will be continuing to read in The Glass Castle (up to page 242). Students will be required to answer discussion questions during classtime. On Friday, students will be completing a spelling and grammar activity followed by independent reading.
