October 2012 has been designated Mi'kmaq History Month. This provides all of us with an opportunity to celebrate the rich heritage and contributions of Mikmaq people throughout Atlantic Canada. You are encouraged to view the amazing display of items highlighting various aspects of Mi'kmaq culture that are on display, outside the Guidance area.

Monday is the Thanksgiving Holiday and on Tuesday teachers across the province will be involved in a professional development day. No classes for students on either day.
We will be conducting a mock Lockdown Drill at this school this morning at approximately 11:00am. The front doors will be locked and we ask that parents be patient and remain calm during this drill. Please do not text your child during this time.
On Tuesday, Sept. 18 starting at 4:45 BLMS annual meet the teachers, barbeque and PSSC meeting will take place. We encourage and welcome everyone to drop by and enjoy the food, meet your child's teachers, get acquainted with their surroundings and show your support.
Schedule for the evening includes: 4:45 - 5:45 Food and Mingle,
5:45 - 6:00 Introductions of staff in theatre,
6:00 - 7:00 "five" - ten minute periods (follow your child's daily schedule),
7:00 PSSC meeting in theatre.
BLMS will have EWG Foods as their food service provider starting Thursday, Sept. 6th. We would like to welcome Alice, Karen and Bev back. For those students who enjoyed buying their lunch at EWG...we hope you see very little difference at BLMS. Our goal was to provide a healthy, reasonably priced meal for our students and staff and by partnering with EWG Foods we know this is attainable. Support your cafeteria because it truly is "yours" now! When a menu becomes available it will be posted here on our website.

For all you back-to-school shoppers remember that clothes need to be school appropriate – this means no offensive slogans/logos or language. Please do not wear clothing which reveals your midriff, or your shoulders. Dresses, skirts and shorts should not be shorter than mid thigh.
