The annual BLMS Awards Ceremony is taking place on Tuesday, June 5th starting with a mix and mingle from 6:30-7:00 in the cafeteria. Dessert and refreshments will be served. The awards will begin at 7:00 in the gymnasium. This year we have over 100 students who are being recognized for excellence, be that academic or extra-curricular. The list is posted outside the main office in the lobby.  Each student is allowed to invite two guests, and can pick up those invitations in the office from Mrs. Rodgers.

Reminder to all students that with the warmer summer weather upon us, we need to ensure that what we choose to wear to school is appropriate for school. Short shorts/skirts, muscle shirts, etc all have a place in our wardrobe ... but they are not suitable for the school setting.   If you are in doubt, please ensure that you bring a second option to school incase you are asked to change.   That will avoid having someone bring you a change of clothing.

Are you in Grade 10 or 11 and would like to spend a week in Ottawa experiencing the national decision making process in Canada?  The Forum for Young Canadians is an opportunity for you to meet with teens from across Canada to experience the richness of Parliament Hill while learning about the democratic process in Canada.   Cost for the week is $895 (some bursaries are available).  Sessions will be held Nov 4 - 9; Feb 24 - March 1; March 17 - 22 and March 24 - 29th.  Visit www.forum.ca for more information.  See Mrs.

Teachers will be distributing a mini-report card to each student in each class on TUESDAY, May 22nd.  This will give students and their parents a quick snap-shot of progress to date.  With thirteen classes remaining after the report, this will set the tone for the final push to the finish.

Unfortunately we have been advised by Public Health that there is a confirmed case of Whooping Cough among our student body.   Today, we are sending a  "fact sheet" home for parents and encourage students who exhibit symptoms outlined on the notice, to see their family doctor.  There is a particular concern for females who are in the later stages of their pregnancy and we advise them to see their family physican - or contact Public Health (506 856-2401) for further direction.

J.R. Augustine has won first prize in the Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge sponsored by Enterprise Greater Moncton & Youth Entrepreneurship Development Initiative (YEDI) Network in the Summer Venture category for his business plan created in the Paul Martin Entrepreneurship class.  J.R was honoured last evening at Mathieu Martin High School in Dieppe with a $1000.00. We are very proud of J.R. and his accomplishment, this competition was open to all French and English students in the province. The category in which he won was also open to college and university students.

This morning several of our Gr 9 Math students headed off to Moncton to compete at the University of Moncton.  Representing BLMS is Samatha Bernard, Kendra Milliea, Shea Scully, Jennifer Steinmann and Shanece Wilson.  We are very proud of our student representatives!
