Unfortunately we have been advised by Public Health that there is a confirmed case of Whooping Cough among our student body. Today, we are sending a "fact sheet" home for parents and encourage students who exhibit symptoms outlined on the notice, to see their family doctor. There is a particular concern for females who are in the later stages of their pregnancy and we advise them to see their family physican - or contact Public Health (506 856-2401) for further direction.
J.R. Augustine has won first prize in the Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge sponsored by Enterprise Greater Moncton & Youth Entrepreneurship Development Initiative (YEDI) Network in the Summer Venture category for his business plan created in the Paul Martin Entrepreneurship class. J.R was honoured last evening at Mathieu Martin High School in Dieppe with a $1000.00. We are very proud of J.R. and his accomplishment, this competition was open to all French and English students in the province. The category in which he won was also open to college and university students.

Four of our students have been selected to attend the 53rd Youth Leadership at Mount Allison University this July. The camp is sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion and runs July 15 - 22. Students selected to participate are Jessica Fullerton, Myles Brown, Desmond Simon and Ian Scully.
The Gaia project is here with tool that would gives students a hands on learning experience with alternative energy. The Mobile Energy Centre is a 4m long trailer that contains a number of different pieces of interactive alternative energy equipment all controlled through 5 touch screen computer interfaces. Graham Food Services is hiring to fill a position at Bonar Law Memorial School Cafeteria as Floor Manager and cook, beginning in September.This position will require the daily operation of the cafeteria as well as being responsible for the main course meal, maintaining the cash, food orders and making a daily deposit at the Rexton Credit Union.Approximately 35hrs per week, salary will be discussed.Must have the National Food Safety Course and experience in cooking for a large number of people.
The French Oratory competition was held over the past weekend at the Universite de Moncton. Two students from BLMS came away winners. Vanessa Steinmann, a grade eleven student placed 1st for her speech on Anti-Fracking and Corey Lawson, grade 12 came in 3rd for his speech on Genetically Modified Organisms. Graduates are asked to see Ms LeBlanc in the library to be fitted for their graduation gown and cap. There is a deposit of $20 required; this will be reimbursed on graduation day, after the ceremonies, when graduates return these items.
