Each student will create a tri-fold pamphlet which showcases their knowledge and understanding of one of the following drugs on the teenage brain and body.


Your choices are Ecstasy,KetamineMethCocaine and crackHeroinMarijuana (cannabis), Hash and Hash Oil


·                  Must include drug classification (depressant, stimulant, etc.)

·                  List physical effects & physiological effects

·                  Must include short-term & long-term effects

·                  Scientific name & Street names

·                  Medical use (if any)

·                  How it enters the body & different forms (example cocaine & crack cocaine)

·                  At least 3 different statistics

·                  Pictures, pictures, pictures!

This week we worked on the skills, knowledge and attitudes that are necessary for success in a variety of work roles and environments.

We also evaluated life/work information that would allow us to choose jobs that suit our temperment and experience.

Today, December 6th, we learned about the Employment Standards Act and what is required of employers when they hire students ages 16 and under. We also learned how to read the Hiring Demand Bulletin provided by the Government of New Brunswick website.

Later in the week, we will discuss the realities and requirements of various education, training, and work settings.

For the rest of the week we will be talking about gender identity, gender roles and gender in the media.

Today we will be watching and discussing the National Geographic Documentary: Gender Revolution

Today we talked about how to negotiate so that everyone can get their needs met in a safe  and healthy way. We also talked about how power imbalances can create inequality relationships.

Homework Questions

1. The early stages of dating abuse usually involve one partner gaining control over the other through excessive attention, jealousy, and guilt. Why is this stage often hard for a victim to recognize? How can it lead to more serious forms of abuse?


2. Do you think would be difficult to leave an unhealthy relationship? What are some reasons why someone might stay in an unhealthy relationship?



3. If you saw a friend being abused, or abusing someone else, would you get involved? If you wouldn't help, why not? If you would help, what would you do to help?

Today we are discussing Coping Skills. We will work in groups to brainstorm what we think we know about stress and how we currently cope with stress.
