This week we worked on the skills, knowledge and attitudes that are necessary for success in a variety of work roles and environments.

We also evaluated life/work information that would allow us to choose jobs that suit our temperment and experience.

Today, December 6th, we learned about the Employment Standards Act and what is required of employers when they hire students ages 16 and under. We also learned how to read the Hiring Demand Bulletin provided by the Government of New Brunswick website.

Later in the week, we will discuss the realities and requirements of various education, training, and work settings.

For the rest of the week we will be talking about gender identity, gender roles and gender in the media.

Today we will be watching and discussing the National Geographic Documentary: Gender Revolution

Today we talked about how to negotiate so that everyone can get their needs met in a safe  and healthy way. We also talked about how power imbalances can create inequality relationships.

Today we talked about what constitutes a healthy relationship. We discussed what to look for in a strong relationship. Students identified signs of verbal, emotional and physical abuse.

Today we are discussing Coping Skills. We will work in groups to brainstorm what we think we know about stress and how we currently cope with stress.

We are also working on our internet safety group project.

If you missed class today, we talked about essential skills and self image. We learned the traits that people with a high self image exhibit. We also talked about what accomplishements we have achieved thus far and what about us makes us proud to be us!

If you misssed class today, we discussed the impact of illegal synthetic drugs on the teenage brain and body.

Today we talked about Energy Drinks and how they impact your physical health. We also talked about how caffeine can increase anxiety.

Today in class we brainstormed ways to promote and maintain mental health.

If you missed period 4 or 5 your homework is attached. Today we discussed balancing school and our home life. We examined how we could be successful in school and still do the things we enjoy. The classwork/homework gives you an opportunity to see how much time you dedicate to certain activies. There are a 168 hours in a week!

Today we talked about Coping Skills including Anger Management.  We identified how we currently cope with stress and what we can do differently.

Today we talked about Problem Solving in a variety of Social Situations. Students also worked in groups and completed an activity using Problem Solving techniques learned in class.
