Through formative evaluation, I can see that Beowulf is getting easier for you.  Way to go!  Keep using your "backpack" strategies!  For this weekend, read until line 637.  Remember, most of this is a digression/anecdote of Beowulf's swimming match with Breca.  Why would this anecdote be included in the poem?  What do we learn from it?

Look up the definition of ANACHRONISM.  Find an example of an anachronism in lines 295-442 of Beowulf.

Study your poetry notes...you never know when a quiz might "pop" up!  Remember, you have lots of notes from last year!   MLA essays due Friday.  We will be reviewing MLA format in class tomorrow.

Posted: September 16, 2011

Due to the fact that the presentations are taking longer than expected, the MLA essay's due date has been moved until Sept. 23rd.

This weekend's homework includes reading over lines 295-442 in Beowulf and paraphrasing the main events in approx. 5-6 lines.  *Remember, if you don't understand a word...look it up!!!!  Remember to keep reading over your notes every night.  This will prevent you from having to cram for quizzes/tests.   I assigned a project today.  The tentative due date is Oct 7th.  See below for attachment.
