This week we are starting our unit on Greece. This week students will be given a historical overview of Greece. Questions will be assigned and student will also be writing their own Greek myths. The myths will be due next week, date to be announced. Attendance is crucial to fully understand this topic and assignments.

Students are continuing to work on reading strategies. It is important that students attend class and stay caught up on work.

We are continuing with the novel April Raintree. We plan to have the novel finished by Christmas Break. It is very important that students are in class to participate in discussions about the novel as well as fully understand assignments. Homework: Spelling / Vocab test on Tuesday, Dec. 15th. Timeline assignment is due on Friday, Dec 11th. There will be no more class time to work on this.

This week we will be finishing up our unit on Egypt! That being said, students will have a project due this week. They will be given 1 or 2 class periods to work on this. The due date is Monday, Dec. 7th. Also, our unit test will be at the end of this week, set for Friday, Dec. 4th. Come see me if you are missing notes or have any questions. There will be a review on Thursday so make sure to be in class! Homework: - Independent Study: Egypt - Society and Culture --------> Due Wednesday, Dec. 2nd! - Start studying for test ---------------> Test is Friday, Dec. 4th! - Egypt 5 Frame Representation Project -------------> Due Monday, Dec. 7th!
This week we are continuing to practice the strategy of "making inferences". Students will also be introduced to a new strategy called "synthesizing". Homework-Students have lots of time in class to complete these but if they do not finish they are for homework - Picture Mystery 2: Kidnapped! ----------> due Wednesday, Dec. 2nd! - Who Knew? articles with graphic organizers -------------> due Friday, Dec. 4th!

This week we are continuing with the novel April Raintree. Students will be doing an in class assignment this week; attendance is crucial. The assignment consists of looking back through the novel April Raintree and creating a timeline with at least 8 - 10 events on it. With each event on the time line there must also be an illustration to represent this. Homework: - Spelling / Vocabulary list  - define words ---------> Test will be Friday, Dec. 4th! - Timeline assignment ------------> due Monday, Dec. 7th.
