Boujour! We are wrapping up our unit on "La prehistoire". Students are working on a project (see attachment) and will be having their unit test. Important dates: Thursday, Feb. 18th - Review for quiz on "la periode Neolithique" Friday, Feb. 19th - Quiz - La periode Neolithique Thursday, Feb. 25th - Review for unit test "La Prehistoire" Friday, Feb. 26th - Unit test "La Prehistoire" Friday, Feb. 26th or Monday, Mar. 8th - Due date for unit project They need to show me their project plan (see attachment) before they begin the actual project. This is due tomorrow, Feb. 17th. Students will be given class time to work on their projects and ask for help. They need to bring all project materials to class from now unitl March Break. Suggested materials: bristol board, markers, stencils, pencil crayons, rulers, pencils...   ****Review for unit test is attached!    

Hello! We are currently working on our poetry unit. Vocabulary test - Tomorrow! We will be starting our poetry projects next week.

FI Histoire Ancienne - Period 4 Extra help is offered on Monday and Friday every week. It is your responsibilty to catch up with notes and other class work if you have missed time. We started with an introdution to history. Our first unit will be "Le Préhistoire".  

English 10 - Period 2 Extra help is offered on Monday and Friday every week. It is your responsibility to catch up with notes and other class work if you have missed time. Throughout the semester there will be vocabulary lists. The list will be given on Mondays and students will write the vocabulary quizzes on Fridays. The students are given 15 minutes to read silently everyday. They were also given a "Book in a ... Project". This is only due April 12th. See attachment for details. Our first unit is Poetry. Make sure you attend all classes to get notes and practice writing your own poems. We will be looking at poetry terminology, figures of speech, and forms of poetry. Also, we will be looking at poems by various poets as well as listening to various music artists. Music is poetry too! There will be a "Poetry Anthology" project too, details to come later.  

Last week of class before exam review! It is extremely important that students attend all classes and submit all work. There is no time left to get caught up. Stay focused! This week student will be finishing the Ancient Greece unit. They will be required to complete an independent study on Wednesday; please be here.

This week we are continuing with essay writing. Students will write an essay and follow the writing process. They will brainstorm, draft, revise, and edit. Students must understand that the writing process is ongoing. There is always room for improvement. The ELPA will be written on Jan. 21st and 22nd. Students who need to rewrite will be doing so these days. The reading section of the assessment will be on the 21st and the writing section on the 22nd. Review for the course exam will take place next week as well.

We started the short novel called Avalanche. This story is based on a true story that took place in Feb. 2003 when a group of students went on a school trip and some were killed by an avalanche. Plans are to finish it this week. Students read the novel and answer comprehension questions, fill in graphic organizers, compare and contrast the novel to the actual event, and share personal opinions on whether or not they think trips with risks like this should be an option for schools. It is important that students attend class due to the fact that we read the story together and work in groups and on assignments during class time.
