1. Finish marking the text in the article Africville. You must make at least 4 notations- one question, connection, definition and interesting word/line/phrase- but preferably more than that.

2. Complete 'Food For Thought' question 1. You may need to write your summary on a separate sheet of paper. Google 'Historica" for accurate infomation on the history of Africville.

1. A Six Word story is when the author uses compressed language to have the reader consider a plethora of things (www.sixwordstories.net). The most famous one is by Ernest Hemingway who penned: 
For sale: baby shoes, never worn

2. For homework, create your own “six word story” on the subject of residential schools. This can be done on what happened at the schools, what the schools did to the culture of Indigenous children or on the intergenerational impact of residential schools.

If you did not finish the marking text activity that was assigned in class today, you must finish it tonight! Remember, make 10 notations in total. You must make at least 1 notation for each step- defining vocabulary, identifying interesting words/sentences, making connections and asking questions. I will attach the notes and exemplar covered in class for you to look at, if need be. You also have all of the notes in your English binder.
