Calling all Grade 11 students - Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia will be hosting a special event this summer on July 18th and 19th for any interested students. SMU will be covering the cost for a parent and student to stay in residence as well as University transition workshops, and a tour downtown Halifax. All meals will be provided; you just need to make your way to Halifax! Please see guidance for more information on this exciting opportunity to get a head start on making your post-secondary decision.  
Saint Francis Xavier University will be hosting a Me To We leadership camp this summer on our campus! The camp will run July 3-9. Tonight, Dalhousis University will be hosting their first Twitter Chat for prospective students, parents and counsellors! Please feel free to follow @DalNews from 8-9 pm ADT as Assistant Registrars answer questions about Financing Your Education, and encourage your students to join in on the conversation. Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Computer has a Computer Science Open House taking place this Saturday, February 28, 2015.  Students interested in Computer Science or Informatics will find this event full of activities to help them learn more about the field and possible careers after university. They’ll explore immersive virtual reality, watch flying drones track objects, see how the security of a network is put to the test, and learn about the buzz around near field communication. Parents and teachers are also welcome to attend. Please note that the first cut off to apply to NBCC is Nov. 1.  If you are intending to apply it is beneficial to have your application in at the end of October to increase your chances for entrance into your program of choice.
Fall Information Sessions are events made to talk a bit about the programs available to study at Saint Mary’s, but to really focus on the extra-curricular activities, student services support and additional opportunities available with a Bachelor’s degree from Saint Mary’s. Mount Saint Vincent University will be having an Open House on Nov. 14/14.  You can register at msvu.ca/opencampusday.  You can bring your transcript for on-the-spot admission.
We are looking for Grade 11 and Grade12 students who are passionate about - Developing your leadership skills - Community service - Global citizenship Are you looking to take your leadership skills to the next level? Me to We is partnering with StFX University in Nova Scotia to bring student leaders from across Canada together for a one-of-a-kind leadership training experience, and we want you to be a part of it! This is a chance to spend 4 days living on campus, immersed in an intensive leadership training program in which will focus improving your understanding of your personal leadership style and gain an increased knowledge of issues affecting local and global communities – and how to approach leading change. You will also create an action plan focused on your development as a leader.   We’re NOW accepting applications for the program, which runs from November 14-22. If you are selected for the program, all of your expenses are included, except for your travel to StFX.   Check out the application link here for more details!    Applicants must be between 15 and 17 years of age and currently enrolled in Grade 11 or Grade 12. Most importantly, we’re looking for young people who have a passion for leadership, who are actively involved in their local or global community, and who engaged critical thinkers.
