As of today students are to have read Chapters 1-3 & have their tasks (ie. Literary Luminary, Quote Tracker...etc) completed for the appropriate chapter.   Students missing time must maintain pace with the class in terms of reading.  Read one chapter for everyday missed.

The Odyssey Quiz Date: Wednesday, March 10th   Students will be tested on Homer's The Odyssey, that we have read in class.  Students should review/know the questions handed out in class.  The quiz will include matching questions, multiple choice, and short answer.   Chose Your Own Adventure Myth Date: Friday, March 12th Students must select one prompt from each of the 4 categories (Hero, Setting, Magical Object and Theme), and base their story on them.  The story must contain all the elements of  a short story.  Revised and edited copy is mandatory. The options for each category are as follows.......   Hero troll wizard seafarer (pirate) king or queen of an ancient world soldier priest or monk bandit or thief searcher or wanderer mermaid god or goddess Setting underwater a planet in outer space a mountainous island an underground cavern a crowded bazaar ancient temple ruins a jungle a peasant's cottage a castle a river or enchanted lake Magical Object a secret potion an amulet (a necklace/ring worn as a charm against evil) a secret scroll or document a magic ring a door with hieroglyphics a fountain a charm or magic saying a staff or walking stick a book of knowledge a sacred animal Theme Carpe Diem (seize the day) the truth will surface justice prevails search inside for wisdom life is a journey eternal friendships descent into the underworld love conquers all trust one's intuition overcoming great obstacles

Grade 10 English Exam: Date: January 27th Time: 9:00 a.m. Location: Student can excpect to be in one of the following three rooms: 202, 203, or 216

English 9 (Romeo & Juliet)Act II Quiz this Wednesday.

Act I & Act II will be completed by the end of the week.  If any students need help be sure to see me at lunch hour or after school   Note: Act II Quiz next week   Any student that needs to re-write the Act I Quiz must do so before the Christmas break.    

Students are expected to review their notes on Elements of a Shakespearean Tragedy, Tragic Hero, Act Analysis, Shakespearean Terms and Character List.  If students have missed time this week they can obtain a copy of the notes from me during lunch hour or at break.    

Short Story Unit Test re-writes must be completed within the next 1-2 weeks. (Students that scored a 59% or below, can re-write their test in order to achieve a passing grade.)   Availability: Tuesday, Wednesday (second half), Thursday, Friday at lunch hour.
