Jolene read " Th1rteen R3asons Why" by Jay Asher. She said it was a really good book. The book is about a girl, Hannah Baker,  who committed suicide. Before she does she records 13 tapes that she sends to 13 different people to tell why she committed suicide.  She sends them to her boyfriend Clay who learns the truth about himself -the truth he never wanted to face. Thank you for the review Jolene.

Our library program at BLMS is Destiny. You can find it under District 16 Home ( the button at the top of this screen.)Go to resources and then scroll down to Destiny. Then choose which school library you want to search. If you see a book at another school, I can get it for you.  You can search by keyword, title, author, subject. and so on. On the left hand side you will see Destiny Quest. This will tell you the new book arrivals in the library.
I read " Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls. This is a memoir ( an account of one's personal life and experiences). The author tells about her dysfunctional family and how her siblings dealt with their father's drinking and her mother's quirkiness and how they survived by supporting one another. Their unconditional love helped them find the resources to leave home and succeed in carving out a successful life on their own terms. J. LeBlanc   Mrs. Woodburn read " The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd. She said it was a very good book and recommended it. It's about a young black girl in the 1960's who has a blurred memory of her mother being killed. She then moves in with 3 beekeeping sisters where she learns about the divine female power and all about bees and beekeeping.   Mrs. Sutherland recommends " Look Me in the Eye" by John Elder Robison. This book is also a memoir. The author tells of his life with Asperger's.The book had very funny parts that made Mrs. Sutherland laugh out loud and that she shared with her husband. One part she mentioned was when the author minced up paper that resembled cocaine, left it on a counter and how it went missing after some officials toured the premises.
