Important: Whooping Cough Update

Posted: November 6, 2015

Please take note of the following letter from Public Health. 2015-11-6 Bonar Law High School NOTICE TO PARENTS... Dear Parent(s), Public Health would like to advise you that there has been a second case of pertussis (Whooping cough) in your child’s school. A fact sheet with information was recently sent home on Pertussis. If your child develops symptoms like those described in the fact sheet, please see your family physician or go to an after-hours clinic and inform them that your child may have come in contact with whooping cough. Whooping cough is spread by coughing or contact with saliva and may cause severe disease in a young child. If your physician suspects that you or your child has whooping cough, appropriate testing should be done to confirm the diagnosis. A positive result will allow Public Health to do further follow up to protect others who may be at risk for this disease. Please make sure that your child is up to date with his immunisations, your child should have received a Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccine in grade 6, 7 or 8th. If you have any questions, please contact Public Health at 856-3220. We appreciate your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Louise Manuel Public Health Nurse http://bonarlaw.nbed.nb.ca/sites/bonarlawd7.nbed.nb.ca/files/feeds/docum...
