My OP students have been climbing the walls waiting for better weather...plus we are getting ready for the big challenge course at MVHS.  The students will be leaving BLMS on May 2, at 8:30am and will return around 7:30pm.  Students are reminded that they must wear sneakers or closed-toed shoes...NO SANDALS!  Students also must bring a bag lunch and money for supper as we will be stopping to eat before returning home.  If you have any questions call Mr. Woodburn at 523-7163, or email at robert.woodburn@nbed.nb.ca Students have been busy tying knots, adjusting helmets & harnesses and locking their carabiners in place for the big climb.  Most of them feel that they are ready, but nothing will prepare them when they walk up to the 60ft structure and see it first hand.  You can see pictures of our prusik climbing & belaying in the picture gallery.

The OP students have been in the great outdoors...well it is in the course title!!!  First we strapped on the snowshoes and hiked around the local trails.  The Annual Snowshoe Field Hockey Tournament proved to be a blast once again.  We are now cross country skiing and trying not to fall down.  The little hill behind the school was quite a challenge, but for the most part everyone made it down onto the river for a great ski.  We are still waiting for that big snow fall and we will start making our quinzees for our overnight exercise next week.

The second semester is off and running and that means more fun and games for the OP course.  Due to the really really really cold weather we did an activity with some milkcrates.  No touching the floor or it's back to the start!  The activity went really well and the students had a blast.  We are off to a great start working together and trusting one another.  I look forward to more activities.  Check out the pictures in the gallery on the right of this page.
