The presentation took place in the Theatre with the introductions being read by Trish Arcaro-Barlow, a grade 12 World Issues student.  We were fortunate to have two elders from the Elsipogtog community Josephine Augustine and Joe John Sanipass who performed the opening prayer and traditional smudging.  Guests were present from the First Nation communities of Elsipogtog and Indian Island as well as the Village of Rexton and School District 16.  His Honour spoke of his journey and how he was held back in grade one because he could not read the English language.  However, he went on to graduate in 1968 and continued his education receiving a Bachelor of Science.  He shared stories from his days as a Provincial Court Judge and talked to the students on what an honour it was for him to be asked to be the new Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick as he was planning on retiring in 2011!  He explained a short list of his commitments and duties as Lieutenant Governor however, his focus during the presentation was on creating awareness to the positive side of education and how  we need to look at education with life learning skills rather than the text book approach if we want to engage our youth.  He reiterated to the students how he can attest to the saying you can doing anything you put your mind to. His Honour is a humble man, a well spoken man and an inspiration to not only our First Nation students but to everyone.  The presentation was followed by a small reception put on by Mrs. Aura Scully's students.  Presentations were made by Trish Arcaro Barlow and Shelby Warman on behalf of the students and staff.  To finish off the session Carolyn Simon, Peter Hachey and Justin Lawson our three Torch runners, were given an opportunity to meet his honour and be photographed.
