October is Farm to School Month and in our efforts to promote healthy eating and buy local we are going to offer some recipes, tips, budgeting, cooking etc...on our webpage. Stay tuned for upcoming recipes that incorporate fresh produce or fruit grown locally. We will offer some budgeting tips to help you stretch your dollar and some of our students are going to visit the local farms to see firsthand what is produced right here in our area. First tip of the month - purchase seasonal vegetables from your local grocery storeĀ or farm stand such as potatoes, carrots, turnips etc..Always check the label to see where your food is coming from. These vegetables can be stored in a cool dry spot in your basement and used over the next few weeks. Purchasing seasonal vegetables and fruit that can be frozen saves you money this winter when the prices sky rocket due to availability and demand.
