1st Annual Community Hockey Game

Posted: May 3, 2022

The first annual community hockey game in memory of Kenny Sock was a huge success. It exceeded our expectations and brought together the school and surrounding communities to pay tribute to a wonderful man. $7840 was raised for mental health initiatives for students at Bonar Law and an additional $55000 was presented to Ms. Davis (Principal) by Wendy Sock in memory of Kenny from the Elsipogtog Education Authority for lunches for Elsipogtog students. Thank you to our sponsors, Kent Suicide Prevention Committe, Rexton Mental Health Committee, Campbell Health, Foodland, Cartier Coop, River of Fire Market, Country Liberty, and the Rangers Hockey Team. We would also like to thank the RCMP for helping make this such a success and for their members donation. Special mention to our red carpet attendees included, The Sock family (Wendy, Cameron, Sharon, Jason and Lani) Ms. Davis (Principal) Council member Everett Sanipass (Former Chicago Blackhawks NHL player, Council member and representing Chief Aaron Sock on behalf of Elsipogtog) Commanding Officer for RCMP in NB, Assisitant Commissioner, Deanna Hill, Superintendent RCMP Dan Austin, Wayne Carpenter (Mayor of Rexton) Kevin Arseneau (MLA Kent North), Dwayne Thompson (Town of Richibucto) Catherine Sanipass (Indian Island First Nation) and Pierrette Robichaud (Chair of the Kent Regional Service Commission) Special mention goes out to our Leadership 120 students, Student Council, Evan Scully (Assault Hockey) our referees Ryan Daigle and Townsend Robichaud, both former graduates of BLMS and Chenille Augusting and Alayna Dunlay for the singing of O'Canada.
